On Sunday, November 12 at 4:00 P.M., the Choral Society of Middle Georgia and the Mercer University Choir, under the direction of Dr. Stanley Roberts, Associate Dean of the Townsend School of Music at Mercer University, and accompanist Jonathan Poe, will present a concert featuring a collection of music to sing God’s praises and be joyful to the Lord.
The main feature of the concert is a beautiful piece by contemporary composer Dan Forrest. Dan Forrest’s choral and orchestral works explore the breadth of the human spiritual experience. His style explores the vast range of human emotion, taking singers from soaring highs to quiet intimacy like swirling colors. Te Deum is no exception to this; this hymn of praise will fill Vineville United Methodist Church with expressions of humanity’s yearning for God. “To Thee all Angels cry aloud!”
Music for the concert include both noted composers such as Handel, Franck, and Haydn as well as contemporary composers including Dan Forrest and David Brunner.
“Oh Music, in your depths we deposit our hearts and souls.” These lines are from a poem and set to music by David Brunner. Music indeed moves our souls and this piece is among those to be performed at the “All Angels Cry Aloud” concert on November 12th. Concert time is 4:00 P.M. at Vineville United Methodist Church.
