Flights of Fancy Birdhouse Sale and Auction

The first-ever Flights of Fancy Birdhouse Sale and Auction to benefit the Fuller Center for Housing of Macon will be held on Saturday, April 28 at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.

Local artists, architects, and school children have contributed their one-of-a-kind designs to this unique event, all in an effort to eradicate poverty housing in Middle Georgia. Birdhouse artists for 2012 include Mark Ballard, Roger Jamison, Martha Tisdale,
and Sara Spivey. The Boy Scouts of Troop 170 have also constructed and donated 35 bluebird houses as an Eagle Scout project.

The Fuller Center for Housing of Macon is a local partner of the Fuller Center for Housing, an affordable housing nonprofit working in 60 U.S. cities and 17 nations throughout the world. The Macon organization works to repair and rehabilitate owner-occupied homes for families who, due to economic circumstances, cannot otherwise afford a simple, decent and affordable home.

The Flights of Fancy Birdhouse Sale and Auction will begin with a sale and silent auction from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. Winners in the elementary, middle school, and high school competitions will be announced and over 100 creatively decorated birdhouses will be available for purchase in the Buy and Fly section, with prices beginning at $5.

The event will culminate with a live auction of birdhouses designed by some of Macon’s most creative personalities. The live auction, which is a free event and open to the public, will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. A press conference will be held on Monday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sports Hall of Fame to showcase the birdhouses and artists.
