Jericho Brown Poetry Reading and Book Signing

Brown will read from his newest collection, The Tradition, which questions why and how we have become accustomed to terror — in the bedroom, the classroom, the workplace, and the movie theater. Following his reading, he will answer questions from the audience and do a book signing.

For his first book, Please (2008), Brown won the American Book Award and for his second, The New Testament (2014), he received the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, which recognizes books that have made important contributions to our understanding of racism and human diversity.  Brown, who grew up in Louisiana, earned his Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Houston and M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans He graduated magna cum laude from Dillard University in New Orleans. He is an associate professor and director of the Creative Writing Program at Emory University in Atlanta.
