Golden Bough Bookstore

Golden Bough Bookstore is an independently owned bookstore located in historic downtown Macon, Georgia. We carry a broad general stock of used and new books on a variety of subjects with emphasis on local and regional history and authors, literary fiction and scholarly history. Opened in 1989 by Lilly Ambrose, Golden Bough was purchased in Feb 2007 by long time employee Eric Wakefield. Golden Bough offers a book search for out-of-print books, and orders new books for our customers. Virtually any book you can purchase at the corporate stores, as well as many that you cannot, you can choose to purchase through us. We welcome your business. Golden Bough is a member of the Georgia Antiquarian Booksellers Association. We are open from 12:00 to 7:00 Tuesday through Saturday. We have thousands of interesting books to browse. Golden Bough Bookstore is located on Cotton Avenue in the heart of beautiful downtown Macon.

Mercer University Press

The mission of Redd Arts Company, Inc., a non-profit organization, is to present accessible and relevant dance performances, fine art exhibits, and creative writing that bring together members of the community, support urban renewal efforts, and provide financial and emotional support for organ transplant recipients and their families, individuals waiting for organ transplants, and organ donor families.

Scribblers Christian Writers Group

Scribblers is a group of Christian writers who gather to support one another. The group was founded to mirror the experiences found in “The Inklings,” a group of English Christian writers that included C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and others. Charles de Andrade, founder, was mesmerized by that story, of how these amazing writers got together to read the works they were working on to one another, at the local pub. The Scribblers focus is on encouragement, on helping each writer get better by reading and commenting on what the club members liked and what needed more work, and by working together to market one another’s books. Beyond getting encouragement, Scribblers offers strategic marketing and resources. You can now share costs for marketing expenses like exhibit booths, graphic designers, web designers and Facebook advertising. Our meetings are also frequently visited by industry experts who are happy to help with publishing and printing questions. Currently we have four chapters with three in Georgia and one in Florida. Social Justice Community Book Club

This book club was initiated by Mercer University’s Center for Collaborative Journalism and partners’ year-long series, “(Dis)Integration: Racial Desegregation of Bibb County Schools” in 2017-2018. It is now being continued by diverse citizens in Middle Georgia. Members of the book club decided to continue this dialogue to improve the quality of life & race relations in our community by: Engaging in honest, stimulating, constructive, respectful dialogue in a safe environment regarding the complexities of Institutional Racism, Privilege, Prejudice, Compassion & Resolutions. Club members select a book monthly for review & discussion. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Washington Memorial Library-Genealogy Room, 1st Floor, 6:15 – 7:15 p.m. We welcome new friends at any time!
