Five years ago the Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra set out to provide high-quality classical music to the residents of the Ocmulgee River area. Since its inception, the orchestra has grown into a group of over 50 professional musicians from over 12 nations and 4 continents with rave reviews, TV and radio appearances.
But the biggest part of the orchestra’s success is you—the OSO’s audience and supporters. We’d like to invite you to celebrate this 5th season with us “Wherever the Ocmulgee Flows.”
Dr. Charles Quinn is a graduate of the University of Montevallo and the University of Mississippi and completed his doctoral studies in music at Louisiana State University. As a versatile performer, Quinn has played trumpet with many orchestras throughout the South East and toured with bands such as Les Elgart and Sammy Kaye. Also an arranger and composer in his own right, his works have been performed from the West Coast to Europe. After accepting a position as director of Instrumental Music at Middle Georgia College, the Atlanta native decided to build a professional orchestra in 2007 and took on the demanding role of artistic director and conductor of the Ocmulgee Symphony Orchestra. This year, the untiring educator founded an outreach program that is a subsidy of the orchestra, the Ocmulgee Symphony Academy, making quality music instruction available for music lovers of all ages and abilities.
