I’d like to start off with the first series of blogs introducing artists from all over the state of Georgia. Some actually live in Macon, but first up is Hanna Allen who lives in the city of Atlanta. I had the pleasure of doing my Delta Airlines Internship with her last spring. And you will be AMAZED what her medium is with her sculptures!! Hanna, take it away from here!

Hi Everyone!! My name is Hanna Allen and I am an Atlanta-based artist with a BFA in Sculpture (minor in Art History) from Savannah College of Art and Design. My primary medium is toilet paper. Toilet paper has one use in society: one specific, expected use: waste management. It is not considered to be a thing of beauty, strength, or significant meaning. In my work, I can completely transform that perception. I can advocate for redemption, love, hope, and faith. I can fight for the potential of something weak and destined for disposal to become strong, intricate, and meaningful. That is why I choose toilet paper as my medium, it echoes my own transformation. Most days, I can be found in my garage studio where my dog, Tuck, provides support as my administrative assistant and very best friend.
