Second Sunday: Hank Vegas

Second Sunday: Hank Vegas

Presented by Bragg Jam at Coleman Hill

Bragg Jam is excited to feature Macon’s own, Hank Vegas, to our 5th Second Sunday of 2017 on August 13th at Coleman Hill! The concert begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public!

Don’t forget, the Concert Crawl might be over, but Second Sunday goes until October!

“Hank Vegas began as the alter ego of singer, songwriter Chad Evans in the fall of 2002 and culminated with the release of the critically acclaimed album “the things you are” in 2007, produced in Athens, Georgia by David Barbe (DBT, REM).
Historically, Hank Vegas projects experiment with art and beauty within familiar and classic pop styles, mostly involving Americana instincts and stylings with dreamy narration and painterly lyrical images in low lighting. If the ambition for the group is to live where Warhol and honky-tonk might intersect, the result is often delicate and ornate compositions with provocative and intriguing lyrical content involving blurred pictures of the American experience.

The most recent incarnation of Hank Vegas consists of Evans along with Denny Hanson on keys and guitar, Chris Nylund on bass and Steven Ledbetter behind the kit.
Evans grew up in rural Peach County less than an hour away from downtown Macon and the Capricorn output of the mid-70’s, and the music and vision of Hank Vegas is as much a reaction to that period as it is a product of Macon’s musical history, which includes Little Richard, Otis Redding and REM. Chad is an alumni of UGA, paid his dues in the indie scene of Athens, Georgia when the Glands, Neutral Milk Hotel and the Star Room Boys were kicking around, and those feels and sounds all live somewhere in the music of Hank Vegas.”
