September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month.  Joshua’s Wish will host its 8th Annual Joshua’s Wish 5k Run &  Awareness Walk on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 8:30 am until 11 am. The location for the event is the beautiful Amerson River Park.   Forty-six children are diagnosed with cancer each day.  Our run/walk will raise awareness of childhood cancer, and raise funds for the cure.  The deadliest of all childhood cancer is pediatric brain tumors . Brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor deaths in children under the age of 20. Pediatric brain tumors and childhood cancer in general require specific research and treatments different from adult research and treatments.  
 
The Mission of Joshua’s Wish is to fund national medical research efforts in finding a cure for pediatric brain tumors, to support families of children in Georgia who have cancer and are undergoing treatment, and to raise awareness of childhood cancer. 
 
Funding for pediatric brain tumors and childhood cancer in general is underfunded.  Our goal for this year’s walk is to raise $20,000.00 for pediatric brain tumor research.  Since 2010, Joshua’s Wish has donated over  $100,000.00 for pediatric brain tumor research
