Elegy for Martin Luther King

Presented by Townsend School of Music - Mercer University at The Grand Opera House

Mercer University celebrates Martin  Luther King with a special concert featuring the Hayiya Dance Theatre, directed by Ms. Pilar Wilder Lowden, and the Mercer Jazz Ensemble, directed by Fr. Monty Cole. Elegy for Martin Luther Kind, an original composition by Dr. Christopher Schmitz based on the poetry of Senegalese poet and statesman Leopold Sedar Senghor, and read by Mercer alumnus Michael Scott, will receive its world premiere on January 15th at 7pm, at Macon’s Grand Opera House. Admission is free.

Parking at The Grand is just steps from our front door and it’s free. Park in the lot directly adjacent to the theater, which is available to the public after business hours and on weekends.
