Vanished In Plain Sight - Photography by Curtis Hertwig

Vanished In Plain Sight - Photography by Curtis Hertwig

Presented by Museum of Arts and Sciences at Museum of Arts & Sciences

The Museum of Arts and Sciences is proud to host an exhibition on the photography of Curtis Hertwig. This exhibition highlights places that have, or are on their way to, vanishing in plain sight. Each photo shows you the contrast of what was and what is now. Sometimes they melt together and become something altogether magical, or can illustrate the changes in human priority through the decades.

Curtis is a 5th generation Maconite. He was not born in Macon, but his family moved back when he was in third grade. His father and grandfather grew up here and were well known in the community.

Curtis took an interest in photography at an early age by borrowing his father’s Leica and light meter and taking pictures. In high school, he acquired a nice little Olympus with a built-in light meter and a dark room.

In the last 3 years, he has traveled the world twice and continues to travel extensively. He photographs his travels, always looking for the image that tells the whole story or the angle that tells the rest of the story.
