On The Table Macon

On The Table Macon

Presented by Community Foundation of Central Georgia at Many locations across Macon, GA

On the Table is a one of a kind opportunity to bring people of diverse backgrounds together to share a meal and have meaningful conversations about topics that are important to the community. This community-wide initiative seeks to explore the ways in which we have the power to collaborate in order to make our community stronger, safer and more dynamic.

In other communities across the country, On the Table has proven that residents share a desire to come together, collaborate more, become more civically involved and more committed to their community. While we know that there’s no “quick fix” to the issues facing our region, progress will result from residents and organizations working to make contributions that add up to a greater solution that helps unite the place we call home.

Following On the Table, Community Foundation of Central Georgia will survey participants to find out what issues matter most to them, and what kinds of ideas for solutions emerged from the day’s conversations. We’ll also help to share some stories of participants to help inspire others to make a difference.

Our goal is ambitious. We want to engage in community-wide conversations about topics relevant to local residents. We seek to create a movement that inspires each of us to do more – to contribute our time, talent and ideas.

This initiative would not be possible without the generous funding of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Admission Info

On the Table is for everyone that considers Macon-Bibb County a place to live, work, or play. All Macon-area residents are invited to participate, host mealtime conversations and share their ideas about our region.

Gatherings can be in private residences, backyards, local restaurants, schools, community centers, places of worship, libraries, offices, retail establishments — literally anywhere a host chooses. They can be sit-down, catered, picnic or potluck meals — completely up to each host.

This area is full of people who love our community and each other. Sometimes, though, it can be hard to feel welcome “at the table” because people don’t know where the table is. They might have a hard time finding a way to be heard – or believing that their voice matters.

On the Table is designed to better connect people to each other and to make all voices heard.

On the Table is being spearheaded by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia with funding support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. We are excited to offer this opportunity to Macon-Bibb County, but we hope the community will make it their own.
