ARTIST BIOGRAPHY OF BARBARA STANTON DOMINGOS

Barbara was born in Jacksonville, Florida, moved to Atlanta at age 3, then moved to Macon at age 9.  She grew up here having attended Alexander IV School and graduated from A. L. Miller Senior High School.

She attended Mercer University where she majored in Mathematics and French, choosing art subjects as her electives.

When she and her husband Kirk moved to New Orleans in 1985, she decided to take art lessons.  She contacted the prestigious New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts and began taking a series of various art classes.  Because of one extraordinary teacher, Allison Stewart, Barbara fell in love with abstract art.  While in New Orleans she also attended a variety of art lessons in the summer at local schools.  She also attended the Penland School in North Carolina.

When they moved to Alexandria, La. in 2002 she immediately joined a group of artists who painted at the River Oaks Art Academy.  While there she participated in group shows and solo shows very successfully.  She was also commissioned by a local store owner to create five paintings.

Here in Macon she continues to paint in her home studio and is very excited to be having her own exhibition.

She is also a knowledgeable flower arranger having arranged flowers for over forty years at her various churches and helped out at weddings and social occasions at homes and various locations.
