"Glass and Prints" features the work of artist and teacher Craig Burkhalter and his former student Jamie Ragan. Burkhalter, a printmaker, is a longtime art educator in Bibb County. Ragan is currently finishing up a degree in art with concentration in glass blowing. This exhibit will explore the relationship between the two artists’ work. Though printmaking and glass blowing are very different mediums, there are many similarities in the two approaches. Both require heavy machinery that mold and manipulate materials into stunning works of art. In the case of printmaking, the use of tools to create plates which are then inked and run through a press, and in the case of glass blowing, heavy piping, caldrons of fire, and the lungs of the artist come together to mold molten glass into objects of beauty and utility.
Free and open to the public.
