84th Georgia Future Farmers of America State Convention

Presented by Georgia Future Farmers of America at Macon Centreplex

The Georgia chapter of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) will hold their 84th state convention, April 26th-28th 2012 at the Macon Centreplex. The conference theme is “I Believe” with more than 4,000 attendees expected. The conference will consist of a career show, guest speakers, community service projects, and various competitions in career development and prepared public speaking.

Ben Lastly, State Executive Secretary, said “Macon is a great host and we have the opportunity to fill the Centreplex to capacity. This will be the sixth year in Macon and we look forward to descending on the city for a few days. I believe there will be record attendance, amazing events, and that this will be the most memorable State FFA Convention in history.”

As part of the convention activities, FFA attendees will participate in three “Living to Serve” community service projects. FFA members will collect canned food, Thursday, April 26th, for the Harvest for America Food Drive to donate to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. Members will also visit the Children’s Hospital at the Medical Center of Central Georgia where they will have the opportunity to lift the spirits of children who are facing various medical issues. The Rebuilding Macon House Paining Project will partner with participants to paint three houses in the neighborhood surrounding the Macon Centreplex.

The Georgia FFA Association was founded in 1929 and brought together students, teachers and agribusiness to solidify support for agricultural education. It is the 3rd largest state association in the nation with 285 chapters and more than 32,000 members.
