Muscogee (Creek) Nation Trail of Tears Bicycle Tour from Ocmulgee National Monument, Macon, GA to Okmulgee, OK

Presented by Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park at Ocmulgee National Monument

The Ocmulgee National Monument will host the leaders of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, to kick off a bike tour from the Monument to Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Developed to commemorate, educate, and communicate about the Muscogee removals as well as the Muscogee history in the ancestral homelands in the Southeastern U.S., the tour honors the memory of the Muscogee ancestors who made the arduous journey and those who did not survive.

Members of the Muscogee Nation and the general public are invited to join the bike tour that combines physical fitness with Native American culture and history. Local riders are welcome to join for any distance. "We hope to have a nice group of local people ride through town and to the edge of the county with the Muscogee rider," said Superintendent Jim David.

Honored guests include Principal Chief George Tiger, Second Chief Roger Barnett, Speaker of the National Council Samuel Alexander, members of the Muscogee (Creek) National Council, the Muscogee (Creek) Honor Guard, and 50 Muscogee (Creek) elders.
