Rosa Parks Square Expansion

Rosa Parks Square Expansion

Presented by City of Macon at Rosa Parks Square

As part of First Friday, the City of Macon will celebrate the expansion of Rosa Parks Square. A program will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. to thank the City employees that expanded the park, State Bank & Trust for providing the grant that got the work started, and the individuals that facilitated the land swap that made the expansion possible.

Throughout the evening, the Macon Jazz Messengers will be performing and Michael’s on Mulberry will be selling food and drink. Attendees are also encouraged to visit the Macon Arts Alliance across the street.

“The expansion of Rosa Parks Square was exciting to watch happen, and I want to thank all the people that played a role in creating this much needed space in our urban core,” says Macon Mayor Robert Reichert. “It’s even more exciting, though, to watch people read the monuments and memorials and see families take pictures there before and after events at the Auditorium. We’ve taken an old parking lot and a small, disjointed amount of green space and created a truly wonderful place that our families and community can enjoy.”

Please note: the City will continue to monitor the weather for Friday night. The current forecast includes rain and possibly some thunderstorms, and if the event needs to be rescheduled, notice will be sent to the media, placed on the City’s website, and posted on the Mayor’s Office Facebook and Twitter pages.
