Choral Society of Middle Georgia Presents "Diapason!" on November 11

Presented by Choral Society of Middle Georgia at First Baptist Church of Christ

Full choral voices. Brilliant brass. Magnificent organ. All of these elements combine to create “a grand swelling burst of harmony,” or Diapason!, on Sunday, November 11 at 4:00 P.M. “The concert coincides with Veteran’s Day which celebrates all of the men and women who have served our country,” said Dr. Stanley Roberts, associate Dean of the Townsend School of Music at Mercer University and conductor for the concert.

The concert includes the Choral Society of Middle Georgia and the Mercer University Choir. “We are also very honored to have the Winds of the Ocmulgee Brass from Warner Robins under the baton of Colonel L. Bryan Shelburne, Jr. as part of our concert,” said Dr. Roberts. “His military background as commander of the U.S. Army Band ‘Pershing’s Own’ and the amplitude of the brass ensemble are fitting for Diapason!”

Outstanding organist and accompanist Jonathan Poe will introduce the broad capabilities of the new organ at First Baptist Church of Christ to the concert audience.
Diapason! includes musical works for organ and brass as well as choral pieces. Choral works include “Magnificat” by composer Paul Patterson, “Joy in the Morning” by Natalie Sleeth, “O Clap Your Hands” by Ralph Vaughn Williams, and “Homeland” by Gustav Holsted and Randall Stroope.

Join us for Diapason! and the rich harmony of choir, organ and brass on Sunday November 11th as we celebrate our veterans. Concert time is 4:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Christ in Macon. Tickets are $15 to the general public. Mercer students and faculty are free with Mercer ID.
