The Board and Staff of the Tubman African American museum invite you to a special Reception to celebrate the opening of the exhibition "Alfred Conteh Non-conformist Artist".
Atlanta-based artist Alfred Conteh employs a variety of media and styles in his paintings and mixed media assemblages.
A significant goal of the artist is for his work to be a vehicle for thought and change. He states that, “by posing societal questions to the viewer, I rely on them to formulate their own opinion and answers about the work. Their perspective is just as valid as mine.”
The Tubman’s exhibition will feature the first public showing of works from the artist’s controversial ‘Pimp Series’ of paintings, works in which he uses the pop culture concept of the pimp to engage in commentary about different aspects of contemporary black life.
Enjoy food, art, music and fantastic conversation at one of the most talked about exhibitions in Macon.
Sponsored by the 11th Hour.
