The Lanier Center for Literary Arts’ October guest for the "Biscuits & Bouquets" Southern food and gardening Salon Series is Derrick Catlett, who has been with Macon State College’s Grounds Department since the fall of 2005. He attended Jacksonville State University and is a Certified Landscape Professional and ISA Certified Arborist. Upon his arrival at Macon State, Derrick took the initiative to create a GPS tree inventory. In 2009 a tornado destroyed the campus; Derrick has been instrumental in grants and projects to restore the campus tree canopy and gardens. Derrick is married to Cristina and they live in East Macon.
