"The Searchers"

Presented by Middle Georgia State University at Middle Georgia State University Conference Center

The Macon State College History Student Organization will show the classic western, "The Searchers," starring John Wayne, and discuss the issues the film raises. "The Searchers" is a tale about a Civil War veteran that spends years searching for his young niece captured by Indians, throughout his search his motivation becomes increasingly questionable.

Leading the discussion will be Dr. Matt Jennings, associate professor of history who specializes in Native American studies, and Dr. Jace Weaver, director of the Institute of Native American Studies at UGA. Participants are asked to bring boxes of macaroni and cheese for a food drive at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in room 112 of the Professional Sciences and Conference Center on the Macon Campus.
