Community Route Audit: Safe Routes to Parks Macon

Community Route Audit: Safe Routes to Parks Macon

Presented by Safe Routes to Parks Macon at Tattnall Square Park

On Saturday, April 6th, get involved and share your thoughts about the ways we get to our parks in a one-day community route audit. From 9am to 12pm, groups of volunteers will walk and bike various routes linking neighborhoods and parks. Along the way, volunteers will make notes and answer questions about the routes. Are the sidewalks level? Is the route clearly visible? Are the street crossings well marked and maintained? You’ll be the eyes and ears of the community as we work to make it safer for people of all ages and abilities to access parks – all while you get some movement and fun in your day.

Absolutely no prior experience required! After the audit, your reports will be compiled and used to create a map for future parkgoers to reference. Grab your bike or your walking shoes and join us! The first fifty volunteers will receive a Safe Routes to Parks Macon bag.

As we get closer to the date, we’ll have more specific details as to meeting locations, materials, and what you’ll need to know. In the meantime, feel free to send us a message with any questions!

Safe Routes to Parks Macon is funded through a Conversation to Action Mini Grant, a program of the 2018 On the Table Initiative hosted by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia with generous funding from the Knight Foundation. This project is modeled off the national Safe Routes to Parks initiative aimed at reducing unequal access to green space by identifying safe walkable and bikeable routes.
