Tourism is a great investment for Macon, generating $381 million per year for the local economy and supporting 3,747 jobs. That means for every $1 invested in tourism marketing and promotion, it brings $54 back to the local economy.

At Visit Macon, we want to be sure that our partners can count on the funding they need from year to year, so they can continue to deliver an excellent return on investment for our community, both in terms of economic impact and making Macon a fun, culturally rich place to visit.

Many people do not know that each night, an average of 10,000 visitors stay in Macon-Bibb hotels and motels, and the taxes these tourists and visitors pay stay right here in Macon, saving every local family nearly $500 per year. Each Macon-Bibb County household would need to be taxed an additional $477 per year to replace taxes generated by tourism economic activity.
