Camp Ocmulgee: OHT Activation

Presented by NewTown Macon at Spring Street Landing, Ocmulgee Heritage Trail

This event takes place at Spring Street Landing along the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.

Complete camp-inspired crafts with local artists, get your face painted, or play games that will bring out your competitive spirit! Or check out a book from the Middle Georgia Regional Library’s pop-up library. All activities are fun and free for kids and adults!

Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen will be on site to sell beer. Swing by a downtown Macon restaurant to grab a to-go plate or bring your own picnic and relax by the Ocmulgee River in one of our adirondack chairs while listening to music by DJ B3. Attendees will be able to complete crafts led by local artists Deonna Hendrix Belcher, Heidi Clinite, Erin Hawkins, Rhonda Miller, and Johnnie Skelton.

SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES

2:00PM -River Float with Float Daze
Float to Camp Ocmulgee with Float Daze! Float Daze will offer a float down the river that departs at 2pm from Amerson River Park and ends at Camp Ocmulgee on Spring Street Landing. $10 River Tubing will have rentals and a shuttle available. Shuttle will pick up float participants from Spring Street Landing at 6:00pm and 7:30pm and return to Amerson. Tubes are available to rent for $10 and kayaks are available to rent for $30. The shuttle is free for people who bring their own tube for this event. Tickets can be purchased the day of or online at https://rivertubing.com/.

4:00PM-7:00PM -Tunes by DJ B3 
DJ B3 will spin tunes from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

5:00PM -Nature “Hike” with Dr. Heather Bowman-Cutway
Learn about local flora and fauna during a nature “hike” down the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail with Mercer University professor Heather Bowman-Cutway.

5:45pm-6:30pm -Games with Camp Counselors 

Compete in a hula hoop competition, test your strength with tug-o-war, or balance an egg to the finish line during games with our camp counselors!

7:00PM -Ghost Stories and S’mores
Gather round and enjoy a free s’more while Rock Candy Tours tour guides Mandy and Joshua Purvis will tell Macon ghost stories. You won’t want to miss this spooky story hour!

PARKING

There is limited parking at Spring Street Landing. Attendees are highly encouraged to park at 815 Riverside Drive (the empty lot next to Burger King) and hop on the complimentary shuttle provided by Centenary United Methodist Church. The shuttle will run on a continuous loop throughout the event.

Camp Ocmulgee is free and open to the public (float is a paid event).
