First Friday presented by Robins Financial Credit Union is your ticket to Downtown Macon! First Friday is full of art, live music, food and events galore. There are activities for children, families, students, and adults. Tag us on your social media with #MaconFirstFriday or #DTMac for your chance to be featured on our Instagram and Facebook pages!

SPECIAL EVENTS

Join NewTown Macon and artist Wayne Temple for a special evening of decorating ghost and ghouls! Visit Poplar Street between Second Street and Third Street from 5:00pm to 8:00pm (or until supplies last) to decorate pre-molded ghosts made from cement. Participants will be allowed to take home their new ghost or ghoul free of charge while supplies last.

While you’re on Poplar Street, swing by between 5:00pm and 7:00pm to say hey to our First Friday sponsors Robins Financial Credit Union and Lite Rock Z93.7 and snag some free giveaways!

Come meet Fairy Ember Maypop at the Alley Gallery: Fairy Portal! Shop for your li’l fairies: framed prints of this sweet painting, toof fairy boxes, fairy wands, and glow-in-the-dark light switch panels. Get a Henna Tattoo and paint your aura on the Giant Coloring Sheet designed by Ember Maypop! Take photos with Fairy Maypop and become a fairy yourself standing in front of the giant fairy wings coloring sheet! As always, the gallery is located at 2nd St Lane x Cherry St, in the alleyway across from The Rookery.

Travis Jean Emporium presents “A Night For Equality” from 5:00pm to 11:00pm. Visit Travis Jean Emporium to view art by Resa Taylor, Deonna Belcher, Sheila Mae, Priscilla Esser, Mary-Frances Burt, T. Fry-Green, Tom Cowsert, Sara England, Suzanne Rogers, Joy Stanley, Jen Worsham, and more. Chance Moorman will perform from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and a book signing for Joy Stanley’s new book, “Whimstorical” will take place from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. At 8:30pm, Macon Pride will present “Drag on Cherry.” A portion of sales will benefit Georgia Equality.

Reboot Retrocade & Bar will host DC Trivia and Cosplay Night from 8:00pm to 10:00pm. Free to play!

Theatre Macon Youth Artists’ Company presents Disney’s Frozen! Stop by Ladda Bistro before catching the show from 8:00pm to 10:30pm.

Situation Room will host dodgeball archery on Poplar Street! Dodgeball archery is a thrilling sport for the whole family. Open to children ages 7+ and adults and FREE during October First Friday. Exercise/gym wear required to play.

Local astronomer Stephen Rahn will have telescopes available for free viewings of the Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn in Third Street Park in front of the Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

Join Macon Bibb County Recreation for Art in the Park! Enjoy an art class on Poplar Street between First and Second Streets from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. That’s also where NewTown Macon will have our Family Fun Zone complete with games!

ART & CULTURE

Macon Arts Alliance will feature works by Daniel Montoute from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in their monthly exhibition Conflict. Light refreshments will be served during a meet & greet with the artist.

The 567 Center for Renewal will host the Miller & Lanier Class of 1969 Exhibition, featuring a range of artwork from artists who graduated from Macon high schools Miller & Lanier. Meet the artists and enjoy refreshments from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

The McEachern Art Center will showcase the artwork of Christie DeNizio and Ayako Kurimoto.

Rock and stroll through Macon’s music history with the Free Birds and Night Owls Music History Walking Tour by Rock Candy Tours! Make your reservations at least 24-hours in advance.
