Joy Harjo, the 2019-2020 U.S. poet laureate is coming to the park to present a book reading and signing.
Harjo, the first American Indian to be named U.S. poet laureate, will read from and discuss her poetry at 5:30 pm. The book signing will take place after the discussion.
Harjo was born in Oklahoma and is a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. Harjo is the 23rd United States poet laureate. The Library of Congress appoints a poet laureate each year to promote appreciation of the reading and writing poetry.
Harjo was born in Tulsa and is internationally known award-winning poet, writer, performer, and saxophone player of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. She has nine books of poetry and a memoir. The event is FREE.
