Kristin Kelly Jones: The End of History

at McEachern Art Center

Mercer University’s McEachern Art Center (the MAC) is gearing up to open two new exhibitions during downtown Macon’s First Friday on February 7.
The first exhibit showcases Chicago-based artist Kelly Kristin Jones. Her exhibit is titled “The End of History.” It features a photo-based installation inspired by her experiences in the Southeast, including in Macon.
Through her photography, she seeks to examine contested historic city space. Jones has an M.F.A. from the School of Art Institute of Chicago. She served as a post-M.F.A Faculty Photography Fellow at the University of Georgia. She has participated in residencies at the Hyde Park Art Center, MASS MoCA, LATITUDE, Atlanta Contemporary, and ACRE, and is currently a Chicago Artists Coalition HATCH resident.
The second exhibit features work from local students graduating from Central High’s IB Arts Program. The seniors will be presenting their work in the MAC’s second in-house gallery.
The MAC aims to be a home for contemporary artists. “Reciprocity is core to the mission at the MAC,” says director Ben Dunn. “We’re able to care for artists with supportive curation and share the fruit of these efforts with middle Georgia in open and free programming.”
The MAC is located at 332 2nd Street, Macon, GA. There will be free admission as well as refreshments. The opening will start at 6 p.m. and last until 9 p.m. Both exhibits will run from February 7 – April 3.
