TOPIC: PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES
They say it’s the journey, not the destination, that provides the most opportunity for growth. Your moments in transport are not suspended in time, but rather are an ecosystem all their own. You’re traveling in more than miles, but also creating a vehicle for strange interactions, awe-inspiring sights, and seemingly unexplainable connections.

So get from point A to point B with Storytellers Macon. Give us your best examples of how the “planes, trains, and automobiles” (and bicycles, and boats, and sneakers, and rickshaws…) have influenced you. We’ll be back at our new home at stART Up studios, and ready to hear how you move and why it moved you.

Our featured storyteller is Rachel Umana, the founder and Executive Director of Bike Walk Macon. She works to make bicycling and walking safe, fun, and convenient for everyone in Macon-Bibb County through advocacy, education initiatives, and community events. She is a Mercer University graduate, with a B.A. in Psychology, Social Entrepreneurship, and Spanish. Inspired by her car-free year as an English instructor in Thailand and her passion for exploring her city by bike and foot, Rachel founded Bike Walk Macon in July 2015 with the support of the 8 80 Cities Emerging City Champions Fellowship program. She is a 2018 Leadership Macon graduate, a member of the Downtown Macon Rotary Club, and serves on the Georgia Bikes Board, OneMacon Steering Committee, Pedestrian Safety Review Board, and the MATS Citizens Advisory Committee. She lives in the Tatnall Heights neighborhood with her husband Jon and dog Roxy and loves that fun, food, and friends are all within walking and biking distance.
