Presented by Grand Opera House at The Grand Opera House

Leaders on the hottest topics are right in your backyard!
Macon Masters is a brand new flagship series of speakers featuring bold leaders in Central Georgia with the vision and experience to tackle today’s most vital questions. The Grand will bring people together under the same roof locally and virtually around the world, making the series accessible to all audiences in this vulnerable climate. A unique three part structure features a master talk, a Q&A with the speaker, and a connecting bridge to new neighbors and friends with a post-event chat.
Dr. Walker: A Trailblazing Leader in Healthcare Now the Chief Medical Officer for Navicent Health, Dr. Walker began her journey in medicine as a native of Monroe County. As a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, prior to transitioning to hospital administration full time, she sat on several committees and served as the Medical Director of the OBGYN Medical Staff for the 2016-2018 term.
Teaching has always been a passion for Dr. Walker. She is a three-time recipient of the National Faculty Award presented by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology for promoting high standards of residency education. From January 2017-October 2018, Dr. Walker held the position of Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Mercer University School of Medicine for the Macon and Columbus campuses. During her tenure she was able to increase the cultural competency of students and faculty while creating the opportunity for ongoing conversation and initiatives about diversity, equity and inclusion.

On September 1, 2019 Dr. Walker assumed the role of Chief Medical Officer at Navicent Health. As the first African American and female in this role she is poised to affect change in the organization and surrounding community in a unique way. Her talk “Humanity, Healthcare, and Hope: Lessons Learned During 2020″ will focus on what it means to be a major healthcare leader during a pandemic and on what we can expect from the future of healthcare in our community.
