TOPIC: DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH
Sometimes, the greatest blessings take a little polish and elbow grease to discover. Lurking beneath the surface of a seeming lump-of-coal may be a pristine gem of a memory when looking back with hindsight and experience. Our healed bumps and bruises become callouses, shields to guide us into future battles. So Storytellers Macon asks, what pothole turned into a road paved with gold?

We examine the uncut edges this month, wondering what ugly ducklings one may have encountered who were secretly swans. If one looks a little closer, is there more to that decision or milestone than meets the eye? Embrace the potential of the moment and join us for a collective exploration of value unseen, of zooming out and embracing the whole.

Our featured storyteller this month is Julia Rubens, a producer and communicator who seeks to harness the creative imagination to amplify more voices. Being the youngest child meant she was a “car baby,” toted around involuntarily to enough events that she’s learned to adapt and open herself to new experiences – so long as there’s a trusty seat belt. A Virginia native, her travels landed her in Macon working at the intersections of Mercer University and downtown on behalf of a variety of vibrant arts organizations and venues as the Arts Marketing Director. She serves on the board of directors of Storytellers Macon, Macon Little Theatre, and the Downtown Macon Community Association and she will pretty much definitely volunteer for your thing if you ask. In her free time, you’ll find her playing with her two high-energy pups and at Pure Barre.

Arrive for socials at 6:30pm, stories start promptly at 7:00pm.

FOR DIRECTIONS:
We will be located at 1055 Riverside Drive, behind Startup Studios. The best way to get to the parking lot is to enter in the New City Church entrance and we will direct you from there. We will be seating the audience in groups with their household members or family over six feet apart from the next group. Please bring seating comfort options “picnic-style” (chairs, blankets, cushions, etc). stARTup Studios will have beer on sale at the event.
