Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra

Presented by Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at The Grand Opera House

Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra (MMSO) is a groundbreaking intergenerational collaborationbetween emerging artists of the McDuffie Center and principal musicians from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to bring the grand power of symphony music back to Macon, conducted by GRAMMY award winner Ward Stare. Community collaboration gives voice to local stars and amplifies them on stage. The symphony will play an expansive program, from Beethoven to hip-hop. We want to be a vibrant gathering place for Middle Georgia to come together and celebrate. More music will be Macon’s #MondayMotivation.

Monday, Apr. 25
The season concludes with the winner of Townsend’s Concerto competition and the explosive Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, written during the author’s depression. Macon hip-hop artist Bob Lennon also takes the stage to perform his commission, “Don’t You Look at Me.”
