Ceramic Artist, Noah Miller, is offering a cake stand class.
Elevation of foods is a common way to present fine dining, and creates a closer connection between the consumer and the chef. Cake stands were commonly used around the 1950’s to present beautifully decorated cakes, pastries, and other baked goods.
In 3 hours, the students will construct a stand which can hold up to a 10” cake out of clay using slab based structures. A multitude of patterns and textures will be available for decoration, as well as some unique coil and rope decorations. Coloration will be added through underglazes, and the instructor will apply a clear glaze over to finish the product. Because of the nature of building this object, it may take 3-4 weeks before it is available for pick up. All students will receive an email notification when their cake stands are ready.
***All clay work takes two kiln firings to complete the process. This takes about 3-4 weeks. You will receive an email notification once your work is ready for pick up.
