The Choral Society of Middle Georgia and The Mercer University Chorus will present “For All the Saints” on Sunday, November 7th, 4:00 P.M.
“Rest eternal grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.” This text from the requiem has been a significant part of our world for almost two years. This concert is a tribute to those we have lost in our earthly home and a celebration of the life they lived and those who remain to carry on their memory. Dr. Stanley Roberts, Director of Choral Studies of Mercer University Tounsend School of Music, is the choral conductor and accompanist is Jonathan A. Poe.
Pieces include the tradition folk hymn “Saints Bound for Heaven” arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw, another traditional camp meeting song “No Time” arranged by Susan Brumfield” and “Exultate Justi” by John Williams which some will remember from the Star Wars movie “Empire of the Sun.”
The largest work featured in the concert is the beautiful and dynamic “Requiem for the Living” by contemporary composer Dan Forrest.
Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased at the door. Mercer University students and faculty are free with Mercer ID.
