Join us at Ocmulgee Mounds to watch a Canoe Build Demonstration and Interpretation Program.
May 2nd – May 6th will mark the first full week of work that will go into building a canoe at Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park.
John John Brown of the The Muscogee Nation & Pedro Zepeda of the Seminole Tribe of Florida will use traditional methods to construct the canoe, and once it is completed, it will become a permanent exhibit inside the museum.
We invite you to come out May 2-6 to watch the process, meet John John & Pedro, and be ready to learn a lot from their cultural and interpretive talks!
The build will take place near the outdoor classroom in front of the Visitor Center.
The Ocmulgee Mounds Association is proud to support this interpretive program and new exhibit! Special thanks to the The Muscogee Nation for making this project possible.
