Help kick off the Society for Georgia Archaeology’s 2015 Archaeology Month with the annual Artifact ID Day at historic Fort Hawkins. The early American frontier fort and factory is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as an archaeological site. The Ocmulgee Archaeological Society will identify and document Native American artifacts that the public brings to the event. This year's event in the new log cabin VisitorsCenter will also encourage the public to bring fossils and civil war relics for identification. Visitors will also be able to tour the three story Blockhouse Replica and the archeological dig site.
Free.
