6th Annual Fort Hill Cemetery Memorial Day Observances

Join the Fort Hawkins Commission and other patriotic and veteran groups for a brief Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon around the new log cabin Visitors Center’s commemorative flagpole.  Visitors may then tour the new Visitor Center, 1930’s three story Blockhouse Replica and archaeological dig site.  At 2:00 p.m. the first Fort Hill Cemetery Ramble will be offered to explore Macon’s oldest burial ground.  The tour will include the need to remember the up to 200 soldiers there in unknown graves especially on this special day.  Graves of some of Macon’s earliest settlers will be shared and visitors will walk upon part of the original Federal Road now one of the recognized “Places In Peril” in Georgia.
