This month we are having our own Chip Nasworthy demonstrate a French Lace. Chip was inspired after seeing one that Niall Mathieson turned. Niall watched Pascal Oudet (from France) demonstrate it at a symposium. This is a perfect example of why symposiums are so important to attend. The project requires expert tool control to turn, usually an oak blank, very thin and very flat.
Chip started turning in 2008 and likes to turn all different kinds of items. We have seen both solid and segmented turnings in the show and tell from him. Lately we have seen beautiful segment work. If Chip can get it on his lathe, he is willing to try turning it.
