HISTORY: Formed in early 2009, The Blue Indian (TheBlueIndian.com) operates from Macon as “Georgia’s Indie Music Hub”. The website has grown from a personal music blog to a full-fledged online production with an increasingly growing physical presence around Georgia and beyond – all through the work of a volunteer based staff.

MISSION: The Blue Indian’s primary goal is to operate as an outlet for independent musicians based in Georgia to audiences around the world, while also exposing audiences in Georgia to artists and events that operate in the Southeast and throughout the United States. As the website is based in Macon, a strong emphasis is put on promoting the music scene in Middle Georgia.

PARTNERS: Since forming in 2009, The Blue Indian has been an active partner with Bragg Jam Music & Arts Festival, Favorite Gentlemen Record’s ‘The Stuffing’ Festival, Sounds of the South Festival, Music Ambassadors: Macon, The Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation, AthFest and more.

LOCAL IMPACT: The Blue Indian has strived to promote Georgia (specifically the markets of Atlanta, Athens, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Milledgeville, and Savannah) as a destination for music industry. In the Middle Georgia area, The Blue Indian helped co-found a successful music festival that benefits local charities (Sounds of the South), booked and promoted more than 250 independent shows, worked as a media partner with countless events, and helped in the process of re-establishing Macon as a desirable market for touring musicians, and a desirable home for young artists. Series such as “All Around Georgia”, a statewide show listing, and “Acoustic Alley”, a video series featuring performances in alleys around Macon, have helped in establishing a local identity.
