Walk to to the Earth Lodge and have a brief talk about the structure and the people who used it 1,000 years ago.
A ranger will give a short program on the Mississippian Culture who lived here from 900-1600. The Mississippians constructed council chambers known as an “earth lodge” where they would hold meetings and ceremonies. Ocmulgee’s earth lodge floor is original and was carbon dated to 1015.
