Pilar currently holds a Georgia Teaching Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and is identified as a Highly Qualified Teacher. She is an enthusiastic and motivating teacher with 14 years of experience as an instructor and choreographer. Georgette Pilar Wilder began her dance career in her hometown of Augusta, GA. Since her birth of Hayiya, Pilar has currently received dance and Arts Integration education from the Bibb County Institute of the Arts, International Centre for African Music and Dance, Ghana, West Africa, Sala Adenike, Ferneasa Cutno, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Denver, CO, New World School of the Arts, Miami, FL. She has also regularly participated in summer dance training with master teachers including Chuck Davis, Mariatou Cisse, Baba Ishangi, Carmen De Lavallade, and Alvin Ailey Workshops.

Pilar is currently teaching dance at Hayiya Dance Theatre as well as the school’s two satalite locations: HOPE Academy and St. Peter Claver School. She is also the drill team coach at West Side High School and works as a guest instructor for the First Presbyterian Day School show choir. Pilar is an active member in the community. She is currently the Executive Director of Hayiya Dance Theatre, Inc., serves on the boards of Museum of Arts & Sciences, Firehouse Productions, Middle Georgia Food Bank, STONE Academy, Inc., and Macon-Bibb CVB.
