Heatherly Wakefield

I’ve been doing art, of some form or another, for over 15 years. I’ve worked several art jobs, including the restoration painting of the Grand Opera House, as an inker’s assistant on mostly DC titles, and as the Director of Fine Art at Macon Arts Alliance. Kari Waltz

Teacher / Instructor; Visual Artist: Drawing Illustration; Visual Artist: Mixed Media; Visual Artist: Painting

Waltz is a versatile artist who works in oils, acrylics, watercolor, graphite, pastels, charcoal, and pyrography (wood burning). Most of her work is focused on realism where she explores the play of light on a subject or captures a special moment in time. She is drawn to God’s creation and often works from her own photographs taken from hikes in the woods with her husband. Waltz grew up in Texas and New Mexico and taught in the Texas and Georgia public school systems for 30 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Lubbock Christian University and completed a Masters in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University. She has lived in Macon since 1986 and has been married to Brad for 33 years. They have two daughters, Tawny and Kelcy, who both live in Athens, GA. Since her retirement, she has focused on pursuing art as a new career through commission work and teaching. She believes that learning is essential to reaching another level of skill and has attended workshops in portrait, landscape, and plein air painting. Waltz has completed portrait work for Bernice King (Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter), The Atlanta Hawks Foundation, and Mercer University. The reaction a client exhibits when a commissioned work is delivered reminds her of the fulfillment found in teaching when a student finally grasped a difficult concept. It thrills her when someone who takes a class or workshop realizes the excitement of creating. Many have never known or experienced the therapeutic benefits of working in some form of creative outlet, and many have let fears of failure or embarrassment keep them from trying. Don’t let this be you! Her goal as a teacher is to instill within each student the confidence to try.

Louise Warren

Composer; Musician; Singer

Louise Warren is a force to be reckoned with. A singer, a songwriter, and a heartfelt performer she’s penned songs in the hundreds and performed all over the Southeast including venues such as the 40 Watt Club and Eddie’s Attic. Her song, “Cherish” was featured on Zooey Deschanel’s website, Hello Giggles and “Home” was the focus of a Super Bowl commercial just before the 2013 kick off. Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, She grew up with a rich musical background; performing in local talent shows and plays, singing in choir, and writing her own songs. When she was fourteen years old, she picked up the guitar and gave the melody and lyrics she had been writing since she was a child their musical “home”. She has described her relationship with music as “My morning coffee, therapist, and best friend”. Her sound ranges from jazzy, pop melodies found in “Lavender Sound” to more driven, rock tunes like “Haunted”. Described as a “true artist in every sense of the word” by producer and musician, Joey Stuckey, Louise is musical to the bone. No matter where life may take her, she knows music will continue to be a guiding force.

Pilar Wilder

Choreographer; Dancer; Teacher / Instructor

Pilar currently holds a Georgia Teaching Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and is identified as a Highly Qualified Teacher. She is an enthusiastic and motivating teacher with 14 years of experience as an instructor and choreographer. Georgette Pilar Wilder began her dance career in her hometown of Augusta, GA. Since her birth of Hayiya, Pilar has currently received dance and Arts Integration education from the Bibb County Institute of the Arts, International Centre for African Music and Dance, Ghana, West Africa, Sala Adenike, Ferneasa Cutno, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Denver, CO, New World School of the Arts, Miami, FL. She has also regularly participated in summer dance training with master teachers including Chuck Davis, Mariatou Cisse, Baba Ishangi, Carmen De Lavallade, and Alvin Ailey Workshops. Pilar is currently teaching dance at Hayiya Dance Theatre as well as the school’s two satalite locations: HOPE Academy and St. Peter Claver School. She is also the drill team coach at West Side High School and works as a guest instructor for the First Presbyterian Day School show choir. Pilar is an active member in the community. She is currently the Executive Director of Hayiya Dance Theatre, Inc., serves on the boards of Museum of Arts & Sciences, Firehouse Productions, Middle Georgia Food Bank, STONE Academy, Inc., and Macon-Bibb CVB. Pilar is also a member Macon Magazine’s 5 Leaders under 40 (2011) and the I Love Macon Campaign as well as Leadership Macon’s class of 2012. Pilar also serves on the Bibb County Judicial Citizen Review Board, Tattnall Square Center for the Arts Programming Advisory Board and is also a member of Junior League, Macon Art’s Alliance’s Arts Round Table and founding member of the Bravo! Pilar also works as a volunteer docent for the Museum of Arts & Sciences and teaching artist for Tubman Museum. Pilar is also a member of the Youth and Health and Wellness Ministries at Lundy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Alix Williams

I am an artist based out of Bremen, GA. I recently graduated from Georgia College and State University with a BA in Fine Arts Studio. I enjoy working with clay to create pottery and ceramic sculpture. I also enjoy printmaking and photography.

Chris Wind The EMA

The “ninja intellectual” Chris Wind The EMA (aka “C. Wind”, “See Wnd”, “Energy Masta Allah”, or simply “EMA”) is a Hip-Hop artist from Macon, GA, by way of Gifford, FL (hometown of notorious rapper YNW Melly). Chris Wind is a founding member of the Macon-based music collective, The Madvocates; the music group, Wind Clan Ninjas; and a pupil of funk legend George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic. Wind’s production style blends elements of Boom Bap Hip-Hop with modern sounds and elements. Lyrically, Wind’s songs often contain socioeconomic and political themes fueled by imagery from comics, Japanese anime, and martial arts. He is a member of the Five Percent Nation (which includes Hip-Hop legends such as Jay-Z, Rakim, and the Wu-Tang Clan) and is known as Energy Masta Allah. More recently, you may see use of the nickname “Wind the EMA” or simply “The EMA”. Wind’s first published rap was as a 5th grade student in 1998 at Macon’s Porter Elementary, where his entry was selected to be performed by the entire school in a competition by the D.A.R.E. program. He credits listening to Wu-Tang Clan’s Forever album for exposing him to “Knowledge of Self” and influencing him to write the winning rap. He formed See Wnd LLC in 2019 and is involved in arts advocacy efforts in Macon, GA.

Museum Studies and Theater student at Georgia College and State University, emersed in courses of cultural understandings, variety skills, and preparation for the future. I installed and created a pop-up exhibition at my college.

I work mainly in digital art using Adobe suite programs, however I have also worked in printmaking. I have recently begun working in 2d animation.
